Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion diced
  • 4 cups chicken broth GF
  • 1 14 oz can black beans drained and rinsed
  • 1 14 oz can kidney beans drained and rinsed
  • ½ cup your favorite fresh salsa
  • 1 cup diced sweet potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 ½ tablespoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion salt
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a large dutch oven over medium heat brown ground beef with the onion until beef is cooked through.
  • Stir in chicken broth, beans, sweet potatoes and salsa, Sprinkle in all the spices and stir well, Bring to a low boil then reduce to simmer.
  • Continue to cook for 20 minutes, making sure that sweet potatoes are tender. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Ladle into bowls and add toppings.
