Ingredients

For the Strawberry Filling

  • 4 cups fresh or frozen strawberries
  • 2 tablespoons sugar up to 3 tablespoons if the strawberries are very tart
  • 1 tablespoon gluten-free flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice optional

For the Crumble Topping

  • ¾ cup gluten-free flour
  • ¾ cup oats
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 5 tablespoons butter melted or softened
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the strawberries, sugar, gluten-free flour, vanilla extract, and lemon juice, if using.
  • Transfer the strawberry mixture to an 8-inch baking dish. If using frozen strawberries, there is no need to thaw them first.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the oats, gluten-free flour, sugar, and salt.
  • Add the butter and work it into the dry ingredients with your fingertips until a crumbly mixture forms.
  • Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the strawberries.
  • Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the strawberries are bubbling around the edges.
  • Remove from the oven and let the crumble rest for 10 minutes before serving to allow the filling to thicken slightly.

Notes

Frozen strawberries can be used directly from the freezer without thawing.
For a sweeter dessert, increase the sugar in the filling to 3 tablespoons.
Allowing the crumble to rest before serving helps the fruit filling set properly.
