I love how the ginger and garlic seep deep into the buttery-tender salmon flesh. You can load the salmon with fresh cilantro or a crunchy nut topping, or have it just as is. This recipe makes a quick midweek meal, is great for meal prep, and is also perfect for a special occasion.

Ingredients
Garlic + Ginger Salmon is best made with fresh salmon pieces rather than frozen. The flesh of fresh salmon holds its texture really well under heat.
Having said that, you can also get a good result with frozen salmon. To make it with frozen salmon, thaw it completely and pat the fish dry.
You can use salmon with the skin on or off, depending on your preference.
Instructions
This is my 15-minute Garlic + Ginger Salmon recipe method:
- Step 1. In a bowl, combine the olive oil, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, lime, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Add in any extras you may have.
- Step 2. Brush this mixture over the salmon.
- Step 3: Spray the air fryer basket with olive oil and cook the salmon for 7-9 minutes until cooked through.
- Step 4: When ready to serve, top the fish with sesame seeds, spring onions or chives and serve the extra dressing on the side.
Hint: Use a silicone basting brush like this to coat and baste the salmon with evenly.
Substitutions
You can swap out some of the key ingredients:
Salmon swap: Use arctic char or steelhead trout for a similar result.
Olive oil: If you don't have EVOO on hand, avocado oil will work really well too - it's a neutral-flavored oil that will carry the ginger and garlic well.
Toasted sesame oil: You can use regular sesame oil or leave it out if you are sensitive to it.
Variations
There are a couple of really delicious ingredient swaps you can easily make with this Ginger and Garlic Salmon recipe:
Miso ginger: Stir in a teaspoon of miso paste for a delicious miso ginger version.
Teriyaki: Mix 1 TBS soy sauce, 1 TBS brown sugar, and some rice vinegar into the marinade.
A herby version: Add ½ cup of fresh, finely chopped cilantro into the marinade.
Nutty topping: Top the salmon with some toasted and chopped cashew nuts or almonds.
Equipment
For this Garlic + Ginger Salmon recipe, you will need your Air fryer, a basting brush and a mixing bowl for your marinade. If you are cooking the salmon in the oven, you'll need a roasting tray or baking sheet.

Share something here that you think is key to making this recipe well, such as: Don't overcook the burgers! Sear the outside and cook to a minimum internal temperature, but they should still be juicy for best results.
