Who says milkshakes can't be healthy? This Healthy Mint Chocolate Smoothie is like dessert for breakfast yet it's full of protein! {gluten free}
Yes, it's true, two smoothie recipes in a row. What am I thinking? Sorry, but I cannot possibly share another baking recipe. This blog is supposed to be healthy yet I keep sharing sweets! I like to balance out all those holiday cookies with this Healthy Mint Chocolate Protein Smoothie.
It's creamy and satisfying and seriously tastes like a milkshake. It has no added sugar but you can add a tablespoon of pure maple syrup if you need it. I sprinkled mine with crushed peppermints but you can leave that off for the vegan, paleo and Whole30 version.

I have lofty goals for the holidays this year. I am determined to watch way too many movies while gorging on carb-loaded goodies. We are going to catch up with the cousins who we haven't seen in ages. My kids (and I) are going to wear our pajamas all day long and play way too many rounds of Madden17 on the Xbox.
I promise to let my laundry pile high while I sit on the couch. My kitchen will be a huge mess because Maddie and I are making dozens and dozens of cookies for friends and neighbors. It's going to be fantastic!

Healthy Mint Chocolate Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 cup coconut or almond milk
- 1 banana
- 1 tablespoon almond butter
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- ¼ teaspoon peppermint flavoring
- ice
Instructions
- Mix all ingredients in a high-powered blender.
- Pour into a glass and enjoy with a straw.
- Add more milk to make a thinner smoothie and more ice for thicker.
