For millions of Americans, getting at least one caffeine fix a day is as regular a part of their routines as showering, brushing teeth, and eating. Many people don’t feel fully awake or functional until they’ve had their morning dose; some are downright grouchy until then. Surely you recognize someone you know or even yourself here!
Americans love their caffeine, and Starbucks is their favorite place to get it. Given those two things, you might wonder which drinks at Starbucks are the most caffeinated. We’ve rounded up the top 10 based on the amount of caffeine in the Grande (16 fl oz) size, which is the most popular size ordered.
Reserve Nitro Cold Brew
Although the Nitro Cold Brew gets its own entry here, we’re listing this one separately because it’s way ahead of the caffeine content and leads all the rest of the Starbucks offerings, hot and cold. Sweet and velvety, this brew contains 400 mg of caffeine in the Grande size. Compare that to the 45 mg in a 16 fl oz bottle of Coca-Cola!
Clover Brewed Coffees
Using vacuum pressure to brew coffee, a Clover brewing machine allows customers to enjoy single-cup servings or rich, rare, and exotic coffees. They’re expensive, and they’re only available at Starbucks. The caffeine content in the Grande size ranges from 340 to 380 mg.
Iced Clover Coffees
If you prefer your caffeine-fix cold but still want to experience some of the rarest and most exotic coffees, you can also get iced Clover coffees. Like their hot brethren, they have 340-380 mg of caffeine in Grande.
Blonde Roast
With a shorter roast time, the Starbucks Blonde Roast coffee beans result in a coffee that’s more mellow and easy to drink. At 360 mg of caffeine per Grande serving, it won’t leave you wanting for some pep!
Cordusio Mocha
Named after a famous square in Milan, Italy, this hot brew delivers 315 mg of caffeine (Grande). Starbucks describes it as their “most espresso-forward mocha.” Rich, bitter, and sweet, it’s almost like liquid dark chocolate.
Pike Place Brewed Coffee
Pike’s Place Market in Seattle was the site of the first Starbucks store. This subtly rich blend of Latin American coffees has been reducing stress and pleasing taste buds since 2008. Caffeine per Grande serving: 310 mg.
Cold Brew Coffees
Steeping these coffees long and cold produces a super-smooth flavor. Each day, they’re hand-crafted in small batches, and there are several varieties to choose from at a time. Caffeine content varies, but it starts at 310 mg in Grande. Additional ingredients can lower the total caffeine content.
Nitro Cold Brew
Slow-steeped and only brewed in small batches, this coffee is also infused with nitrogen, which gives it a sweet flavor without using sugar. It has “only” 280 mg of caffeine in a Grande serving, but if you need more, you can the version with sweet cream; this bumps it up to 325 mg!
Featured Dark Roast
Full-bodied, bold, and robust, the Dark Roast Coffee is an impressive product of roasting and blending. Along with balanced and lingering flavors, it has 260 mg of caffeine in the Grande size. It’s more than enough as a wake-me-up for most people!
Blonde Caffè Americano
Last on our Top 10 list, this sweet, extra-smooth features espresso shots made from Starbucks Blonde Roast and topped with hot water, which creates a light crema layer. Prefer it cold? Try the Iced Blonde Americano instead. Both have 255 mg of caffeine in a Grande serving. While that’s last on this list, consider that it’s more than 5 times the amount of caffeine in a same-sized bottle of Coke. It’ll help you get through the day!
