    This Pomegranate Smoothie Bowl is full of healthy seasonal goodies to stave off those sweet cravings.  It's naturally sweetened with the delicious flavor of pomegranate. {vegan, gluten-free, paleo, whole30, dairy free}

pomegranate smoothie in a brown bowl with toppings

This Pomegranate Smoothie bowl is full of bright refreshing flavors and colors!  We are huge fans of smoothies at our house.  I love making easy simple green smoothies and my kids love any smoothies with berries.

Smoothies are great for breakfasts on the go but also work well for an afternoon pick me up.  They satisfy sweet cravings with the naturally sweetened fruit and might keep you from reaching for that office candy jar.

smoothie bowl with a spoon and chia seeds

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup pomegranate arils
    • 1 banana
    • ½ cup frozen berries ( I used strawberries)
    • ½-3/4 cup almond or coconut milk

    Instructions

It couldn't be easier to make this Pomegranate Smoothie Bowl.  Just add all the ingredients into a blender and blitz for a few seconds.  For a thicker smoothie add less milk.  I like to add a little bit as I go.  If this gets too thin just pour it into a glass and drink it!

    Substitutions

This smoothie bowl is infinitely adaptable.  Just remember that you have to have some frozen fruit and some fresh.  The frozen fruit makes it thick enough to pour into a bowl and suspend toppings.

    • if you don't have fresh arils you can buy frozen
    • I used frozen strawberries but you can use blueberries, blackberries, raspberries or cherries
    • any milk will do: almond, coconut, oat or cow's milk

    Smoothie Bowl Toppings

    • chia, hemp, flax or sunflower seeds
    • coconut flakes
    • fresh sliced or chopped fruit (berries, bananas, kiwi, mangoes, papaya, apples, oranges, pineapple, pomegranate seeds)
    • frozen berries
    • herbs
    • nuts
    • bee pollen
    • goji berries
    • granola
    • oats or cereal
    • nut butter (warm in microwave and drizzle on - so good!)
    • cocoa nibs or chocolate chips
    • vanilla or chocolate protein powder
    • PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter

I've been looking for something like this! I love my oatmeal but sometimes I want to mix things up, and I've been feeling rather uninspired lately :/
But - hurrah for the Christmas shopping! I picked up the last present I wanted for my OH this evening so I'm officially done too... kinda. I might make some dairy free fudge for my grandma ^_^

There is nothing like a great smoothie to get your day started off right! I love the color with all those wonderful pomegranate arils and the strawberries. Very inviting. As for shopping, online is where it's at. No crowds. No fighting for parking spots. Just a few clicks and you're done. 🙂

This looks wonderful! I'm thinking of doing another round of Whole 30 in January and this would be a great change of pace from eggs for a breakfast!

That remote control drone sounds so fun!! I agree...it's definitely is easier buying stuff for girls than guys. I think that there are so many more options for girls! I have my shopping done too! Woo hoo! I did do some shopping in the mall, but tried to avoid it when I could...I just don't like the crowds and would rather be in the comfort of my own home with coffee in hand and cozy clothes on 😉 This smoothie bowl looks so pretty!! Plus, healthy too which definitely comes in handy with all the cookies and chocolate this time of year. Hope you and your family have a very Merry Chritmas!! xo

I haven't tried a smoothie bowl yet, Karen - I don't know why?? Especially when it looks so delicious - what a healthy way to start the morning. Getting the holiday shopping done early is a huge bonus - and your kids are lucky - what great gifts! Happy Holidays!
