    This Matcha Smoothie is filled with so much goodness and will start your day off right.  Make it for a quick breakfast or an afternoon pick me up.  {gluten free, vegan, paleo, whole 30}

    Have you tried Matcha powder yet?  It's taking over the internet with matcha shots, matcha popsicles, and even matcha brownies. 

    It's so delicious in this Matcha Smoothie and it adds so much nutritional value.  I think you should find a way to get some matcha into your diet.

    WHAT'S IN A MATCHA SMOOTHIE? 

    There are only six ingredients in this quick and easy matcha smoothie...

    • frozen pineapple: works great in smoothies to add sweetness and thicken it up
    • avocado: this is my favorite way to make smoothies creamy and thick 
    • almond milk: you can substitute any dairy free milk
    • banana:  a no brainer addition to smoothies
    • greens:  adding a handful of greens packs this baby with nutrients
    • matcha powder:  the magic ingredient that is full of antioxidants

    Simply blend it all together in a high powered mixer and enjoy topped with your favorite goodies.

    NUTRITIONAL BENEFITS OF MATCHA POWDER

    • High in antioxidants called catechins.
    • Some studies suggest it can help prevent heart disease, control weight, maintain a healthy liver and help prevent type 2 diabetes.
    • Contains L-Theanine which is an amino acid that can promote calmness and stimulate brain waves.

    WHAT CAN I PUT ON TOP OF MY MATCHA SMOOTHIE?

    • blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries
    • almonds, cashews, pepitas, walnuts, and pistachios
    • chia or hemp seeds
    • greek yogurt
    • granola
    • almond, peanut, or cashew butter
    • chocolate chips or grated chocolate

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup frozen pineapple
    • ½ avocado
    • 1 handful of greens, spinach or kale
    • ½ cup almond or coconut milk
    • 2 teaspoon matcha powder
    • ½ banana

    Instructions

    • Place all ingredients into a high speed blender and blend well. If it's too thick add more milk - too thin add more ice or the other half banana.
    • If you want it to be a smoothie bowl it needs to be thick.

    Notes

    If you want to drink this out of a glass just add more almond milk to make it thinner.
