Every candy in the first section is on the Celiac Disease Foundation's Halloween candy list, updated September 2026, which only includes candy the U.S. manufacturer labels or reports as gluten free. I update this list every fall, but recipes and factories change without notice. Always read the package before anyone eats it.
How to Check Halloween Candy for Gluten
Look for a gluten free claim on the package. In the U.S., candy labeled gluten free has to test under 20 parts per million of gluten. That label is the strongest assurance you'll get.
Read the ingredients, not just the allergen statement. Wheat has to be listed as an allergen, but barley and rye don't. Look for wheat, barley, malt, rye, and oats in the ingredient list itself.
Check the size and shape. A regular Reese's cup can be gluten free while the pumpkin shape is not. Fun-size and mini versions don't always carry the same claim as the full-size bar.
Have a trade plan. Set out a bowl of safe candy at home and let your kids swap anything off this list when they get back from trick-or-treating.
