Some have compared marriage to choosing one dish for the rest of your life, but what if we got even more literal with it? Men recommend these ten if you had to eat one type of food every day for the rest of your natural life. What are your favorites?
1. Pizza
You'll be hard-pressed (or stone fired?) to find a culinary creation more universally adored than pizza. In fact, pizza is so good that people will eat it with the most nonsensical toppings you could imagine, from chocolate and pineapple to rhubarb and buffalo sauce. While most pizza lovers stick with more traditional toppings (pepperoni and black olives are a personal favorite), the off-the-wall variety of pizzas makes it a logical choice for the single meal you'd eat for the rest of your life.
Considering the health implications of eating dough 365 days a year, the health-conscious daily pizza eater might switch to thin crust.
2. Bacon
Some people already eat bacon daily for breakfast; arteries be darned. What difference would it make if they had to formalize the daily bacon intake? None, really.
3. Potatoes
Potatoes make enough sense as a food you could eat every day if you had to. There are plenty of variations. You can bake them, then load them with sour cream, chives, cheese, and bacon bits. You can mash them and top them with gravy. The good Lord even made a naturally sweet version of the potato so that you can have your daily potato for dessert.
Potatoes are filling, cheap, and often delicious. However, the Irish might serve as a cautionary tale about the perils of tying your diet too closely to spuds.
4. Mangos
To be clear, these are foods that you'd have to eat every day but wouldn't have to eat exclusively. That said, it's no surprise that men chose one of nature's sweetest treats, the mango, as a food item they wouldn't mind having daily.
5. Pasta
The key to this answer is genericness. When you say "pasta," do you mean penne a la vodka? Fettucine alfredo? Lasagna? The respondents don't say, and I have a feeling there's some strategy in that. They're keeping their options more open than the box of macaroni I smashed last night. Smart.
6. Steak
The advertisements and license plates that read "Beef, it's what's for dinner" have special meaning to those who named Ribeyes as their daily meal of choice from here to eternity. It's what's for dinner tonight, tomorrow night, the next night, breakfast, lunch, brunch, and midnight snack. And for some guys who don't mind the cowboy diet, that's fine.
7. Tacos
Another universally beloved dish, tacos come stuffed with fillings from the land, sea, and air. Beef tacos, shrimp tacos, fish tacos, chicken tacos, and even vegan tacos make this choice something of a cheat code.
8. Shawarma
The Middle Eastern staple shawarma is another versatile dish that makes sense as an everyday meal. You can switch up the innards (beef and chicken are two of the most common fillings), alter your veggies and sauces for different tastes, plus it's a lifestyle food. So long as you don't spill, shawarma works as a quick, portable meal for men with little time for a lunch break.
Still, we're talking about the rest of your life here. If you get sick of eating wraps two years into the experiment, don't say I didn't shawarnya.
9. Cheeseburgers
If whoever runs this sick experiment feels merciful, they'll let the subjects eat their cheeseburgers with all the modern trappings. From bacon to bleu cheese and even a dollop of barbecue sauce on a steakhouse burger, there are enough delicious burger varieties to keep a burger-loving man satiated for the rest of their life.
10. Sushi
Sushi was a surprisingly popular food choice that men would be satisfied eating every day for the rest of their lives. It's not that sushi isn't sufficiently tasty or versatile, but there are two little words that habitual sushi eaters might come to dread: mercury poisoning.
